Orbot: Tor for Android

What is Orbot?

Orbot is a free proxy app that empowers other apps to use the internet more securely. Orbot uses Tor to encrypt your Internet traffic and then hides it by bouncing through a series of computers around the world. Tor is free software and an open network that helps you defend against a form of network surveillance that threatens personal freedom and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security known as traffic analysis. Orbot creates a truly private mobile internet connection.

  1. Is anyone using transparent proxying successfully on the HTC Evo currently? I have rooted android 2.1, installed orbot, and started it, but still visiting the check tor website results in the “sorry you are not using tor” message. I have tried this on wifi and mobile network, and with various browsers. Does anyone know where else I might look for information on how to do this? Thanks

  2. Does CM7 final support iptables? It was just released within the last day, but I can’t find any definitive answer on iptables.

    1. It does but we have found that we need update Orbot to fix an incompatibility with a small change they made. We are working on that now, so stay tuned for a fix.

  3. Sou leigo em relação a rede TOR, mas, me interessa muito aprender!
Gostaria de participar de alguma forma da rede TOR.
